Welcome, Traveler! Editorial, cont.
We will bring you events
of joy, in words, photos and videos: Please share your own such events with
your humble blog staff and Readers via our email box. My assistant, RuffWriter, and I will take pen in paw to offer
articles of humor, chew over news-bytes, review items of potential import to
Dogs, Cats, Polar Bears and Humans, (among
other Species), while also publishing our selection of items of similar
interest which you email for us to share. But what we also see and deeply feel
with our heightened senses is what you, our Readers, sense: All is not well
with the Earth, nor is it well for any of Earth’s sentient creatures,
great or small. You can see sadness in
our eyes, but also hope: Hope that the turmoil on our Earth will bring all of
us together with sincere respect for what each has to offer for a better world. Dogs love to help, so here we are
at
WoofTracks, just two Dogs and two Cats, on a mission to offer, via the
Internet, a world
forum open to all Species, for sharing and showcasing the
most important “Bytes” of all: Ways
in which all of us as feeling beings can
and do rise above our “nature”, to live together in peace.
In addition to our articles, reviews and
editorials, we offer All-Species moments of Levity: Here, a dancer’s
paws hardly touch the floor as Carolyn and Rookie dance to “You’re the One That I Want!”
We bring you true
Stories of Nobility and Courage:
K9 Congressional Medal of Honor Winner
Brutus
Meet Brutus, a military K9 at McChord. A mix of Boxer and British Bull Mastiff,
Brutus weighs over 200 lbs! In the photo,
he’s running toward a friend who has Milk Bone treats for him. The
friend ducked behind a tree momentarily, in case Brutus couldn’t stop!
Brutus won the Congressional Medal of Honor during
his tour in Iraq last year. The story is that insurgents took hostage his
handler and four other soldiers. Since
he and his handler communicate by sign language, the handler gave Brutus the
signal to “go away but come back and find me”.
The insurgents paid no attention to Brutus, who later came back and
quietly took out guards posted at two different doors. Then he jumped against the old warehouse
door until it opened. After Brutus
untied his handler, the soldiers escaped.
The story, in the email making the rounds, goes on to say, “if Brutus
knows you’re ok, he’s a big old lug and wants to sit in your lap. Enjoys the company of cats.”
Boundless Love: We have heard
that “no greater love hath any man, than to give his life for his Brother” –
This was a newscast from Chile, of a fellow dog who will always be my ultimate
